OVERVIEW

About this product

Designs for Vision has been building custom surgical telescopes since 1961. Each pair is made to the individual clinician: working distance measured in their own operating posture, declination angle set so the neck stays neutral, and the wearer's refractive correction ground into the carrier lens where required.

That custom fit is the difference between loupes that get used and loupes that sit in a drawer. An off-the-shelf pair forces the clinician to adapt their posture to the optics; a prescribed pair holds the field in focus at the position they naturally work in, which protects the neck and shoulders over a career.

The range spans 2.5x flip-up and through-the-lens telescopes to high-power expanded-field systems, with matched LED headlight options that mount directly to the frame so light and magnification stay aligned.

FEATURES

Key features and benefits
Custom working distance

Measured in the clinician's own operating posture so the field is sharp where they actually work.

Set declination angle

Optics angled to keep the head upright, protecting the cervical spine over long lists.

Prescription integration

The wearer's refractive correction is ground into the carrier lens where required.

Matched illumination

Frame-mounted LED headlights keep the light coaxial with the magnified field.

CLINICAL USE

Applications and indications
Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery

Vasopressor-dependent patients with confirmed or strongly suspected Gram-negative source.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery

Abdominal and thoracic sepsis with high endotoxin load following perforation or anastomotic leak.

Dental and endodontic practice

Used in series with CRRT where acute kidney injury accompanies septic shock.

Clinic and procedural work

TECHNICAL

Important technical information
  • Fitting is done in person: working distance, interpupillary distance and declination angle are all measured.

  • Working distance should be measured in the posture actually used in theatre or surgery, not seated upright.

  • Clean optics only with lens-safe solutions; alcohol and abrasive wipes damage coatings.

  • Store in the supplied case — most loupe damage happens outside the clinical setting.

ACCESSORIES

  • LED headlight and battery pack

  • Protective case

  • Lens cleaning kit

  • Prescription changes may require re-fitting of the carrier lens rather than the telescopes.
